Simple Coleslaw(Perfect for Slaw Dogs)
This easy homemade coleslaw is creamy, tangy, and comes together in just a few minutes. The slight sweetness from the honey and the zip from Dijon mustard make it an incredible topping for hot dogs, burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and more. We especially love it piled high on charcoal-grilled beef hot dogs!
Ingredients
- ¾ bag coleslaw mix (add more or less depending on how creamy you like it)
- ¾ cup finely diced red onion
- 5 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp honey
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
Directions
- Roughly chop the coleslaw mix if you prefer smaller pieces, then add it to a large bowl with the diced red onion.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, pepper, and salt until smooth.
- Slowly add the dressing to the coleslaw mixture, stirring as you go, until it reaches your desired level of creaminess.
- Taste and add a little extra pepper or salt if needed. Serve immediately or refrigerate for 30 minutes for even better flavor.
Tips & Info
- For extra crunch, make the coleslaw a few hours ahead of time, but don't let it sit overnight or it can become too soft.
- Like your slaw sweeter? Add another teaspoon of honey.
- Like it tangier? Add an extra splash of apple cider vinegar.
