Tramontina Signature Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware Review: My Honest Thoughts After Months of Cooking
Why I Bought It
One of the biggest reasons I chose the Tramontina Signature Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware Set is that it doesn't use a traditional nonstick coating. The cooking surface is simply stainless steel, so there's no coating to scratch, chip, or wear away over time.
I wanted a quality stainless steel cookware set without paying All-Clad prices. Since I was starting a food blog and spending much more time in the kitchen, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to upgrade our cookware.
Our previous "nonstick" cookware had reached the point where it wasn't nonstick at all. Scrambled eggs were especially frustrating, often sticking to the pan and making cleanup a chore.
What's Included
The Tramontina Signature Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 8-Piece Cookware Set includes:
- 8-inch Fry Pan
- 10-inch Fry Pan
- 2-Quart Covered Saucepan
- 3-Quart Covered Saucepan
- 5-Quart Covered Dutch Oven
The tri-ply construction provides even heat distribution, helping reduce hot spots for more consistent cooking. The cookware is also oven-safe up to 500°F, making it easy to move dishes from the stovetop to the oven when needed.
What I Love
I've been genuinely impressed with how well food releases from these pans. As long as you preheat the pan before adding oil and food, sticking has been minimal.
On our electric stovetop, the handles stay cool enough to comfortably grab without needing an oven mitt or towel. I've heard the handles can get warmer on gas ranges, but that hasn't been an issue for us.
Heat distribution has been excellent. Whether I'm cooking shrimp, chicken, peppers, onions, or making a quick pan sauce, everything cooks evenly.
Cleanup has also been easier than I expected. While the cookware is dishwasher safe, we've chosen to hand wash it, and it still looks fantastic after daily use.
Things to Know
Stainless steel cookware does have a slight learning curve. If you don't preheat the pan properly, food is more likely to stick. Fortunately, once you learn the technique, it's incredibly easy to use.
Although these pans are certainly capable of searing steaks and fish, I still prefer using my cast iron skillet for high-heat searing. That's more about my personal preference than any limitation of the cookware.
My Favorite Pieces
The 10-inch Fry Pan is easily my most-used piece. It's the perfect size for eggs, shrimp, chicken, vegetables, scampi, stir-fries, and spicy noodle dishes.
The 2-Quart and 3-Quart Saucepans are perfect for cooking rice, boiling pasta, making mashed potatoes, sauces, and soups.
Who They're For
I think this cookware set is an excellent choice for:
- Home cooks looking for a durable cookware set they'll use for years.
- Anyone wanting stainless steel cookware instead of traditional coated nonstick cookware.
- People looking for premium performance without paying premium prices.
