Homemade Buttermilk Blue Cheese Dressing (Small Batch)

Homemade Buttermilk Blue Cheese Dressing (Small Batch)

Makes about ¾ cup

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 2 oz blue cheese crumbles, divided
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • 1½ tsp fresh chives, finely chopped
  • Pinch of kosher salt (to taste)
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Stir in 1½ ounces of the blue cheese crumbles, gently mashing some of the crumbles with a fork to create a creamy texture while leaving plenty of chunks.
  3. Fold in the remaining ½ ounce of blue cheese crumbles and the fresh chives.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Tips

  • For a thicker dip for wings, reduce the buttermilk to 1½ tablespoons.
  • For a thinner salad dressing, whisk in an extra tablespoon of buttermilk.
  • Homemade blue cheese dressing tastes even better after a few hours in the refrigerator as the flavors meld together.
